A Life Less Ordinary
Warning: I come with a TMI label. Some call me a Californian chameleon, others a master illusionist. Born to a Cajun Mama full of ancient wisdom, my life’s been a kaleidoscope of experiences. My childhood was a hodgepodge of hand-me-down beliefs and remedies (alligator grease for asthma, anyone?) This “gift sets me apart, a lone star in the sea of elders.
I’ve traveled the globe, met kindred spirits, straddled the back of an elephant (don’t ask). Chased by a bear? Been there, done that. Raccoon rabid rampage? Check. Professionally, I’ve worn many hats: Air Force WAF, political speechwriter, market research analyst for a Fortune 500 company, private detective, artist, published author, content and technical writer . . . you name it.
Now, I’m the caregiver to my 92 year old Cajun Mama. I’m a survivor, 3 marriages, heart-attack, Stage 4 cancer, and even COVID-19 ICU stay. Long COVID, mobility, and on oxygen slows me down. I’m also a Cajun renaissance woman, part guérisseuse, musician, artist, historian. As a Cajun, I’m tough as they come.
These days I’m a 1000 miles from my Florida home, tending to my Mama’s northeastern rural home. It’s a trade-off that fuels my writing fire. Yes, I have a lot to say before I die, Stage 4 cancer will light that kind of fire under you. Expect the unexpected, the improbable encounters, surreal stories and poetry, and a life painted in extraordinary tales.
