A pine tar and extra-strength Aquanet flambeaux torch flew, a fiery dart,
From Krewe Babylon's inberatied rogue hand, a wild, hot detour start.
To Krewe Chaos's float, a Monseiur Alphonse meter's staggering plight,
Igniting an effigy wanna-be-king parking meter satire well into the night.

Soon all were hearing Krewe D'Etat's Dictator, “oh-no-you-don’t” voice so shrill,
Calling it all it as he saw it, when he shouted "Outrage!" under moonlit hill.
While Krewe Muses' charity auction shoes, dazzling with sequins and glitter bright,
Were knocked into the fray, had them in tears, threatened by the burning light.

King Hermes arrived, on a Lipizzan Astro steed so winged Phoenix grand,
"What Mardi Gras chaos reigns throughout the Louisiana Orleans Parish land?"
His Krewe Hermes neon glow in the dark, a rainbow of many vibrant hue,
Dismayed and angry, lady-like Krewe Muse glitter bombs began to get tossed and flew.

Sugary storm colorful cotton candy clouds escaped from Krewe Babylon's hand,
Cotton candy clouds filled the French Quarter bricked streets wherever they did land.
Krewe D'Etat's sharp wit, mistakenly deemed glitter shoes weaponized foot ware keen,
One more bedazzled Krewe Muse shoe, ignited a near brawl battle scene.

But then a booming voice took command being wiser, weathered, tired, incredibly old,
Ancient flambeaux's tale fact, boldly bravely emerged without anyone objecting told.
"We're here to joyfully dance, to laugh, and to play, to chase away shadows of the day!"
Krewe Muse elegant ribbon glitter bombs gave way to forgiveness, a shining peace.

The Krewe Hermes antique neon glow, shared and found sweet modern release.
The marching bands of glorious tune meter burned, a combined spectacle grand,
As all krewes at last united, linked arms joined, lovingly walking hand-in-hand.
From fiery Mardi Gras unnecessary chaos start to celebrating together a joyous end.

Our folk tales, poems, and other offerings are inspired by real Louisiana and New Orleans history, but some details may have been spiced up for a good story. While we've respected the truth, a bit of creative license could have been used. Please note that all characters may be based on real people, but their identities in some cases have been Avatar masked for privacy. Others are fictional characters with connections to Louisiana.

A Word of Wisdom:

As you read, remember history and real life is a complex mix of joy, sorrow, triumph, and tragedy. While we may have (or not) added a bit of fiction, the core message remains: the human spirit's power to endure, adapt, and overcome.
